Cancale 'City Site of flavours'
Cancale is located at the western end of the Mont Saint Michel Bay. The city was once famous for its sailors engaged in the "great fishing" in Terre Neuve on the cod boats. Every spring around Easter time, the fishing boats (trawlers and canoes) were allowed to dredge the oysters from the natural banks of the bay. It was the "Caravan". The period lasted about 15 days to preserve the resource. At high tide the famous "Bisquines" came to unload their catch in the port where the sailors' wives sorted them. The walks overlooking the oyster beds are magnificent, easy and pleasant. Cancale is located 20 km from the Saint Christophe Farm. It is reached by what is for us, one of the most beautiful roads in the world!
